My name is Eldris Con Aguilar and I am from Venezuela. This year in February I graduated with honors as a teacher (B.A. Education) in history and geography from the “Universidad Católica Andrés Bello” in Caracas. Currently, since September, I am a student of the Master course in Latin American Studies at Leiden University.
Because my father is from Curaçao, I have very close ties with the island. During my previous undergraduate studies I have taken great interest in the historical relationship between Curaçao and Venezuela going from the colonial period to the democratic oil splendor period in Venezuela. I have done several research projects on this relationship for example: the get-away of slaves from Curaçao to Venezuela (Falcón State); and the assault of Rafael Urbina and Gustavo Machado on Fort Amsterdam in 1929.
For my MA thesis at Leiden University I have chosen to do research on the present day Curaçao. In this sense the proposed subject or title is: "Approach to the change of political status of Curaçao from the perspective of its citizens living in the Netherlands".
In order to complete my research I have to do interviews with citizens from Curaçao living in the Netherlands.
Therefore, I would like to ask you if you are willing to help me out and collaborate with my research by allowing me an interview of around 30 minutes (for which I will go to the most convenient place for you), or if it is more convenient, by answering a questionnaire with 5 questions by e-mail.
If you would like to help me in my research you can contact me at this e-mail address:
