OCaN stuurt een felicitatie brief aan President Barack Obama

OCaN voorzitter drs. Glenn Helberg stuurt namens de Antiliaanse en Arubaanse gemeenschap een felicitatie brief aan de nieuwe president van de Verenigde Staten van Amerika Barack Obama. Hier leest u de breif in haar geheel.

The Hague, January 19, 2009

Dear Mr President,

While the world is longing for the moment  you become the President of the United States, we ask Gods richest blessings for you and your family.

Every fibre in our body is happy to experience this great moment in history. Absolutely no black man or woman will as from now on be able to say: "No I cannot, because I am black". Whatever it takes, it may take three hundred years, it may take a lot of pain, it may take a lot of sacrifices, but we shall overcome. "If I am not the one, it will be my child, or my children's children, or thereafter, but we shall overcome".

Thank you for being the one by whom we may experience this moment of truth of endurance and perseverance.

Thank you for being the one by whom we may experience the greatness of love and consideration.

Thank you for being the one by whom we may experience the riches of knowledge and intelligence.

Thank you for being the one by whom we may experience the potency of listening and dialogue.

Thank you for being the one by whom we may experience the importance of daring and doing.

Thank you for honouring tradition and inviting change.

We would like to offer you our support. Especially in the field of awareness of black men, to be fathers to our children, because, yes we can!

Congratulations and God bless you, God bless America, God bless the world.
